What Is Necessary To Be A Hero?

What Is Necessary To Be A Hero? How would the world be, without those people who are always doing something to help others. They are called heroes. Heroes are individuals who demonstrate bravery and altruism for superior and virtuous good of humans when they are in danger. A hero is also someone who can provide his or her existence to people. Although the concept is related with ferocity, a hero is defined as someone with moral brilliance. It is easy to mention several examples of heroes since the beginning of history, but the important thing is that they share some features, which make them different from the rest of people. However, there are some people who think that heroes are just in movies or myths and that they look like athletes or actors (http://www.studymode.com/essays/Characteristics-Hero-58475.html), but the fame or the aptitude are not the characteristics that make a person be a hero. There are three basic characteristics of a hero: the value and dignity of human life, the faith in self and his or her actions, and courage which can confront whatever comes. There are some heroes that are known as noble and that have a wonderful effect on people, such as Mahata Gandhi and Martin Luther King. Most heroes are just normal people that come from family, neighbors, and the community, but something important about heroes is that they respect human life. Heroes respect human life because they take care of peoples lives, and are always fighting for peoples rights to give them the life that they deserve. Heroes expose their life for people and they like to take care of people. They also dedicate their life to make others lives better, since they think that peoples lives are important. They risk their life for others. All these things make their passion for people obvious. Heroes always want to get peoples rights. This kind of problem always happens if they are between people and a high position or organization such as a government or people who work with the government. There is an example of that kind of heroes: Martin Luther King. He made the Africa Americans get their rights. He made them get their freedom. Finally, he achieved his goal. In all, heroes are the hardest times and difficult situations. They respect human life because they know that it deserves it, and that human life is a value or an important gift. They care about people and they also help people get their rights. Everything in human life has advantages and disadvantages. Also, people determine which they choose. Sometimes heroes help people be in good shape or get new knowledge. Nowadays, people pay more attention to heroes because heroes are always doing adventures to draw peoples attention. It can be easy to see that heroes are not regular individuals, since they are not able to do what heroes can do. There are a lot of heroes that are really famous in this time, for example: Iron Man and Spider Man. People believe that they are different and that anyone can be like them because they are not real individuals. People know a lot of things about heroes, but some people think that they are able to be like them and this is impossible because what heroes do is out of imagination and nobody can do it. For example, Spider man is called a hero because he can go up the high buildings and fly in the air without injuries. However, people have to know and believe they cannot do what they watch on the T.V. In contrast, a person can be a hero to someone, or society. People will like the person if he or she is a hero to the whole society. There are some different kinds of heroes that common people look up to, but in a friendly sort of way, like firefighters and police. In some circumstances, they need to risk their lives to save someone else. The important thing to remember is that being a hero is something that starts from the heart. Moreover, everyone dreams of being a superhero. However, as they get older, people will realize that they do not possess the supernatural powers of Spiderman or Batmans primo cache of gadgets. And also they notice the absence of the kind of otherworldly arch nemeses that plague a comic book heroes in the real world. The idea of being a hero is gradually as kids stuff, but while evildoers may not appear in the real world painted up as sadistic clowns, the world has never ceased its need for heroic men willing to come to help those in danger and stand up for what is right. To sum up, people have to read more about heroes to know what happened around them and to know what has to believe. Heroes always do something different from others in order to become more and more famous. Heroism means a person who is always acting to protect other individuals or society in a special way, even though this kind of behavior will risk a persons life. Depending on its nature, heroism requires physical courage, both physical and mental. A traditional hero often risks death or injury. The defiance of death becomes one of the accepted signs of heroism as a way to get peoples attention. A hero may lose his or her life when enhancing others welfare. Actually, the hero considers that the purpose is more important than the risk of death or injury (162). Even though in this century, when saving others, a hero sometimes should face the injury and death. Thus, it is necessary to say heroism needs courage. The physical courage enables the hero to face the difficulties and to do the preparation of surrendering their own comfort in order to achieve their goals. The mental courage of a hero wants him or her to know the accepted truths and yet not be limited by them. In a fairy tale, a child says loudly that the emperor wears no clothes just because of innocence, not courage. However, heroic men are aware of the danger and still want to make people recognize the truth. For them, it is not enough for people to think traditionally and they choose to let the public understand clearly (163). The heroic act may be against the habits and customs of the society. Disagreement is inevitable although supporters do not happily welcome opposition. A hero needs mental strength to keep energy and talent when facing personal loss, difficulties or disapproval. Ostracism or expulsion will take place. Obviously, a hero may be lonely and sometimes cannot get the recognition or encouragement (163). Courage helps a hero overcome the loneliness, regard the disagreement and persist in pursuing his or her goals. Thus, it is almost unnecessary to say that heroism requires courage, both physical and mental. After see these characteristics that are typical or the expected about heroes, there are several characteristics that the real heroes have. As is it mentioned before heroes are not just those ones that we can see in movies, myths, and other fabulous stories. The concept of a hero is more than that, since a hero can be anyone. There are various characteristics that real heroes have, within these are: that heroes are surprising, unfamiliar, normal and conventional, they become heroes by confronting difficulties, they fight for others, and they have no fear. Almost in all the heroic acts people is amazed and surprised by the shocking and unexpected brave action of someone that seemed normal. This is another characteristic of a hero, anyone expect her or his actions, and anyone expect the problem neither. For instance, there is a group of students taking their daily classes, when they are surprised by a huge earthquake, and there is one student who takes the decision to help and save to her or his peers. This is an unexpected action, made it by a normal person, who became a hero in a surprising way. Sometimes people expected good actions or get to know to those famous heroes or super heroes, but heroes can be unfamiliar or unknown persons. Not all the heroes are in the movies, magazines or something more credible like newspaper. The majority of heroes are lack of fame, because not all of them tell to everyone the good actions that they did before. Heroes are normal and common people. How many times did someone see to Spider man or Batman doing something for a child in trouble, or helping to a senior to cross the street? A hero is someone who is doing something good for others, so all the good actions that most of people can see every day are made by heroes. These heroes can be found day to day, no matter if the actions are very little or big and famous, but the real heroes are normal people. If there is no danger or something wrong is not necessary to do something good or to turn a normal person into a hero. Heroes convert into a hero during a situation that demands it. For instance: there are a lot of people sleeping at 1:00am in one of the dormitories, and there is a fire, someones roommate is not able to go out of the dorm so her or his peer decide to help her or him to go out before something bad happened. Another example can be when sometimes there is a kid into the pool playing without parents attention and the lifeguard is distracted by other things, while the kid is drowning in the pool, but there is a normal guy who is near and when he see this, he decide to save the kid immediately. Without these terrible situations either the good roommate or the guy cannot turn into a hero. Even though these heroic actions are not on the newspaper or on the television, there are two persons benefited by them. Also heroes have an original perspective that make them different from others As mentioned before, there are several examples of different kinds of heroes and also different concepts of them. However, there is a convergence between them, and it is that all of them share the same values and attitudes included in their features. All heroes start to do their good actions because they are generally encouraged by the value and dignity of human life, since they know that human life is worthy and they completely understand that because it is always oriented to do something to value human life. Another characteristic of heroes is the faith in themselves and their actions; otherwise, they cannot have the courage to do those unbelievable and brave actions. Thus, with confidence any person can do something for their lives or others lives. Although the heroes that we know have done some incredible actions, every person has inside a hero who has the ability to confront the difficult situations that he or she has to go through every day with courage, respecting others and d oing all the actions with faith (http://www.personalitytutor.com/qualities-of-a-hero.html).

Why do Nurses earn less than rock stars?

There are many reasons as to why nurses earn less than rock stars. The first, most important one, is to recognise that we are comparing these two respective salaries on a statistical basis, most likely average such as a mean, or median wage. We must take into account the range of salaries, to see how much the data we are comparing is skewed. A nurses salary cannot really vary much, as rates in hospitals (in the same area) will be similar, only varying slightly for higher positions within the nursing profession. This is in complete contrast to what rock stars can earn – some can earn just $10 an hour, despite enjoying tremendous popularity. Others, however, can earn millions and billions, and therefore, this will mean that the results for pop stars' wages will be skewed, given the wide range of salaries. Wages are set very much like price is – by market equilibrium. Looking at the labour market, we can see that, once immensely popular, demand for an artist becomes very inelastic – people will buy his merchandise even if the price increases quite a lot. Supply for nurses, on the other hand, may be elastic, as there are plenty of individuals who are willing to try and seek employment in that field, assuming that the skills required aren't very hard to come by (to enter the profession). On the other hand, it can be argued that supply for artists is inelastic, due to the relatively small numbers of people in the industry. This argument can easily be refuted by pointing out the hordes of riff-raff and other emotional junkies who pander towards an illustrious career of fame and fortune, and attempt to become rock-stars. However, if they are not famous or are deemed lacking of the talent needed to earn that label, they will most likely not be counted as a â€Å"rock star† and they will find it hard to enter the music industry and therefore their efforts will be in vain, and they will be discounted by those seeking to make their fortune by accumulating and manipulating market trends. Thus, we can see that demand and supply is inelastic for rock stars, while elastic for nurses. If you draw a demand and supply diagram, who will be able to see that the rock stars' wages will be determined by a higher market equilibrium than their hospital-working (female) counterparts. Immobility of labour is another thing which contribute towards the supply of the respective professions. Being a rock star is unlikely to be one of the first or main jobs an individual will undertake in his life. Thus, stars will probably have other vocational skills ready to be of use if they suffer an untimely demise at the hands of fickle fans. This will encourage people to try and become rock-stars as they will be able to find another job later or before they strike success. Nurses, on the other hand, have less of a reason to be as occupationally mobile, as their career is more likely to be a steady, longer one, quite predictable in nature. This would mean that nurses would have to aim to try and stay in that profession for a long period of time, which may actually discourage some people from becoming nurses. However, the mobility of labour seems o have little impact in actuality as it seems that this would make supply of labour more inelastic and elastic for nurses and pop stars respectively. Geographical mobility of labour also seems to have little bearing on the supply of labour. Lastly, there are many benefits to be gained from each profession. Rock stars have the opportunity to make millions very quickly, become famous, recognised and more influential. Nurses' benefits lie more in the vicinity of pension payments, and possibly the knowledge that you are helping the community. These seem to be the main reasons as to why nurses get paid less than pop-stars. Why do Nurses earn less than rock stars? There are many reasons as to why nurses earn less than rock stars. Strategic Knowledge Management Technology Essay

The magnitude of the work or activity that qualifies to be a project differs in various states. however, it is very clear that however small the task may be, the need for a project management tool or technique is essential. this will help in the planning stages to achieve successful outcomes. Therefore, project management tool s is required in the project for planning and managing purposes though it is not restricted to business activities. Some of these projects may involve weddings plans and house relocation. Positive results are expected whenever an efficient project management tool is used to avert problem risks and failures. Project management may involve changing or introducing things hence involve in human resources, financial matters, security and various stakeholders among others. In a proper project management, there are about six major steps to be followed such as term of reference, planning, communication, monitoring and project completion among others. During this process, project management tools are fundamental in ensuring the success of the project. This study focus on the 2013 – 2014 relocation project en route projects, which is a consultancy project. There are several tools to be chosen and in this project are communication log a Gantt chart (called project time line) and risk management log (Young, 2003). Each of these tools has its procedures and its benefit as far as this project is concerned. The choice to use Gantt chart tool and its benefits The choice to use the Gantt chart in this assignment is almost obvious in the project management field. The tool is named after the founder Henry Gantt, who invented it a more than a century ago (1910). After the concept was outlined, it was remarkably implemented initially during World War 1. The major use of the Gantt chart at that time was by American general Crozier to manage complex weapon production and logistics operations. Since then, many people have used the tool, especially the work breakdown structure (WBS) that has been relevant until today. To start with, the reason to choose the Gantt charts in my project was that it is an easy-to-use graphical tool among operations and project managers when determining condition of projects. this project includes various activities during the process that require close monitoring over the period to ensure these activities are carried out as planned. As a consultant and the leading project manager, it becomes easy to pay close attention to the progress of the operations to ensure that the functions involved are completed by their scheduled date. Secondly, the choice to use the Gantt chart is intertwined to the efficiency and reliability it has on project management. That is why Gantt and pert charts remain the two major and commonly used graphical tools among managers in making diagrams on the activities engaged in the project. In fact, the existence of the tool since 1910 has proved major tool although in the recent years it has witnessed some drawbacks, as projects are not fixed whereas daily updating may be tiresome. Nevertheless, people have insisted on using the tool as people have faith on it. As a fan in diagrams and charts, i decided to use the Gantt charts for my project because it creates complexity. Pictures bring a bigger idea of a situation like this once you master the art of interpreting them. More so, picture or charts yielded by this tool are easy to understand once studied. In fact, Gantt charts helps in organizing thoughts. This is enhanced through the dividing and conquering concept. On the other hand, the decision to use the Gantt charts was based on its ability to show visibility of the whole project. Once the chart is creating, it was possible to place the chart in either a bigger version of actual version to see the progress. This helped in realizing and reminding me of the objectives as well as when various activities are supposed to take place in the process (Johnson, 2003). This does not require high intellectual ability when interpreting how the project is going on. Largely, the Gantt charts helped in demonstrating to my clients that i know what is doing in my consultation duty. This is reflected after producing nicely presented Gantt chart showing proper organization of high-level tasks as well as resources allocated to these tasks. It generally helped in sending the bigger picture on whether the needs of the project are met or not as well as determining if there will be a success in the project. Lastly, the Gantt charts helped in setting realistic periods. The Gantt chart had bars indicating when a particular task or set of tasks will be completed. As a result, it was possible in planning and arranging various functions in a proper perspective. This help in limiting the events during this projects that may end up using much time and resource yet they could not add any value to the project. By studying the charts, it became easier to focus real issues and saved much of my time (Wilson, 2003). According to Peterson (1991), Gantt charts are fundamental in the planning theory. Planning theory traces its background even during the ancient times. Even in the bible, it depicts how various individual and groups were connecting with agricultural pursuits through planning some of their religious practices. Similarly, governments and other economic groups are as well using the planning theory to determine the profitable times when there is need to allocate the scarce resources. More so, the entrepreneurs have used this to decide when to deliver good s and services. As a result, they have tried to avert risks that may undermine their activities through planning. The choice to use risk management log and its benefit On the second tool used for this project was the risk management log. it is worth noting that project risk management entails a process involved in identifying risks, analyzing risks, developing appropriate responses to risks, and monitoring risk triggers in which as a project manager i had to effectively utilize (Ward, 2003). As a result, it was possible to ensure that risk management is done and that risk triggers were monitored. The decision to use this tool alongside the Gantt chats was the capability to use the tool in identifying, managing, and ranking risks throughout the life of the project. The use of the risk management logs was preferred because it is very brief and direct on point. As a result, it could be easier to explain to the client on the progress of the project as well as explaining on why some activities may delay as risks engulf the functions. On the other hand, it will be easier for the client to realize the probable reasons for projects delay and understanding the risks and threats that may face the project (Rosa, 2013). The tool has a risk management worksheet helped in realizing the types of risks likely to be encountered during the project period. To start with, the general risks were categorized as well as the specific risk. The general risks are noted risks likely to recur throughout the life of the project without a specific date associated with it (Cerner, 2001). On the other hand, the specific risks encompassed risks being associated with a particular date when they may occur during the project period (Bouchaud, & potters, 2000). The clarity on these risks was based on the assumptions or risks based on the probability and the impacts on my project. Depending on the level of probability between probability and impacts on project, various risks were categorized as high, low, or medium. The emphasis should be given to the highly categorized risks to ensure success of the project. On the other hand, the risk management log was chosen because after categorizing the risks it was possible to formulate contingency plan of action on issues triggering the level of risks (smith, 1999). In this case, the tool played a crucial role in organizing various activities related to the en route project. The contingency plan of actions laid safety measures to avert the project failures led by adversities. .the tool demonstrated a clear picture of sequential commencement and closure of various activities involved in the project. The risk categories were determinant factor on the period used on various functions. The use of the risk management tool helped in realizing the risks or threats likely deter the success of the project. It started with risk identification to determine risks likely to affect the project and documenting the characteristics of those risks (wells, 1996/1997). Both the internal and external aspects of the project were tracked in which the emphasis on internal risks was on directly controllable items by the project team whereas the external risks were events happening outside the direct influence of the project team. The tool contribute a final document that is presentable and areas of much interest t=are bolded especially on the probability and impacts. There is a systematic arrangement of causal effects and the outcomes at various stages. This was beneficial in this project in making forecasts and projecting possible changes to avert high risks or threats. With the help of the triggers at the last column, to show ‘how do we know this may be starting to happen?’ Sometimes obvious, but often not. May be worth also noting my responsibility of keeping an eye on this to make alerts on the project. The presence of the ‘contingent actions’ president as to do if the risk does happen (Gottschalk, 2005). . It is useful to think about this at the beginning, as you may need to make preparations or alert people in advance. To repeat, this is all much more important for higher impact/probability risks. Conclusion The presence of various project management tools may sometimes be hard for project managers to chose (Howes, 2001). However, good choice of the appropriate tool will be a milestone in achieving a successful project. In this case, the use Gantt charts and the risk management logs were preferred for their ease and presentation to the client. They made it possible to explain to the client on various stages and expected threats during the project life. The link between the client and the project manager is fundamental to ensure the smooth completion of the project whereas the mutual understanding could help in developing trust and long-term relation to make the projects successful. A Brief Note On Diabetes Mellitus ( Dm ) Is A Serious...

Discussion Post Week Nine NURS6051, N-20 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a serious disease that affects much of the U.S. population. DM occurs when the body had trouble regulating the amount of glucose in the blood stream. Although they share a similar name, Diabetes Insipidus (DI) is a different process, which involves kidney-related fluid retention problems. As advanced practice nurses (APNs) one must be able to differentiate, diagnose, and treat all three disorders appropriately. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the hormonal regulation alterations in both DM and DI respectively. Diabetes Insipidus DI is either central or nephrogenic and is a partial or total inability of individuals to concentrate urine. Inadequate ADH activity causes the elimination of large amounts of dilute urine. Central DI is can be transient or permanent, depending on the history of the underlying disorder (Elsie Hammer, 2010, p. 542). Central DI is due to lesions of the posterior pituitary, hypothalamus, pituitary stalk, which interfere with the synthesis of antidiuretic hormone (ADH). This type of DI is seen mostly with closed head injuries. Nephrogenic DI is due to an insufficient response of ADH by the renal tubules. This kind of DI occurs from disorders such as polycystic kidney disease and pyelonephritis, but may also be due to drugs such as lithium carbonate, colchicines, loop diuretics, and general anesthetics. Patients tend to crave cold drinks, and urine output drastically
